Borderlands 3 Dahl weapons are the bread and butter of the game. This tacticool fictional gun company has gone through quite the iteration since the first Borderlands title. To that end, we'll go over some of their quirks in Borderlands 3, and tell you what you should expect when you equip a Dahl gun.
At face value, Dahl is the most "vanilla" and boring gun manufacturer of the franchise. Their firearms look quite similar to modern-day weapons, and they're not the sort of stuff you'll enjoy if you want something weird and wacky. One thing they are, though, is reliable. A Dahl gun is a gun you know how to use. It's a good old-fashioned magazine-fed auto-shooter, and it wouldn't look too out-of-place in a Call of Duty title. That said, Dahl guns sure do have their niche, and they're a personal favorite of yours truly.
What are Dahl Guns like in Borderlands 3?
We've already gone over why Borderlands 3 gameplay is miles ahead of its predecessors. Since the gunplay is heftier and way more interesting than it was in the previous games, this means even the simplest gun is that much more fun to use. A garden-variety fast-firing Dahl SMG will now dish out immense damage at close range, as well as staggering your foes by the sheer amount of lead it will propel their way. A Vladof can shoot fast, yes, but Dahl is nothing to scoff at!
Dahl guns' unique quirk is that they offer multiple firing modes, as well as multiple sights in most cases. We've come across a number of weapons that even had three types of scopes, which makes for a nice visual gag. Speaking of visuals, expect camo patterns, Picatinny rails, laser-sights, suppressors, and other traditional gun attachments. In truth, Dahl does precisely what contemporary real-world gun manufacturers do, except they do it in the future.
Say you find a Dahl Jaguar-pattern Assault Rifle. It generates with a full-auto firing mode, and a scope/red-dot sight combo. This weapon can provide covering fire at close and mid-range by default, and you can quickly and easily switch to semi-auto to take foes down with crits when need be. Dahl guns are, with that in mind, extremely versatile, and a great mainstay in your inventory.
What makes Borderlands 3Dahl Weapons Unique?
Though they'll roll without any elemental affinity in most cases, Dahl guns aren't allergic to elemental damage. If you're lucky, you'll find a Corrosive bi-scoped LMG, most of which can do some really heavy damage to softly-armored targets. Auto-fire to diminish armor, semi or burst to kill things quickly. It's a wonder to behold!
One of our favorite weapons, in fact, is the Legendary 9-Volt SMG, which is essentially an automatic Shock shotgun in function. This will make short work of any enemy shield, and it doesn't punish shoddy aim, either. This combination of attributes makes it a perfect run-and-gun sort of firearm, and it's far from rare, far as Dahl goes. The utility of Dahl weapons can go even a step further, if you pick up something like the Unique Omniloader Pistol. This beastie reloads all of your other guns whenever you reload it, which will help keep your DPS up at all times.
One thing to note is that Dahl doesn't seem to make Shotguns or Rocket Launchers. In fact, the list of their weapon archetypes is somewhat limited:
- Pistols (Machine Pistols, Handguns)
- Sub-Machineguns (SMGs, PDWs, Carbines)
- Long Rifles (Assault Rifles, Light Machineguns)
- Snipers (Sniper Rifles, Designated Marksman Rifles)
The game doesn't make a difference between gun sub-types as we did, but this list will give you a great idea of what you should expect to find when on the lookout for the Dahl of your dreams.
Who are Borderlands 3 Dahl Weapons for?
If you, too, need a workhorse weapon that doesn't have random gimmicks, allows for engagement at multiple ranges, and can dish out serious damage without being obnoxious in this way or the other, you need a Dahl. These firearms are a safe bet in the madness that is Borderlands 3, and they're easy recommendations for newbies to this wonderful FPS/RPG hybrid.
