Cities: Skylines + Any DLC You Want

gaming without internet PC

There's nothing quite like a good city-building game. Coincidentally, Cities: Skylines is the best of the best. And that's from the early stages of the game to the most recent DLC. Huge, sprawling, and infinitely entertaining, this incredible game has been going strong for 5 years now. Indeed, the fact that it still has no real competition should be telling you everything you need to know, especially considering that it works offline!

Not only does the base game afford you dozens of hours of awesome PC gameplay without an internet connection, but it also has numerous expansion packs to upgrade it with as your city grows. It all boils down to your own preferences in city-building. Hey, if you don't have any preferences, perhaps it's time to figure them out!

And that's before delving into all the awesome expansion packs available for the game. Indeed, Cities: Skylines is a game I am sure you will have played offline, but if you haven't - then what are you waiting for? This is truly an awesome no-internet game and one you will want to play today!

Doom 2016

Doom is badass. In fact, we feel that a picture of Doom Slayer should be in every dictionary that attempts to define the word 'badass'. That's how badass Doom is. And it's a no-internet game. What else could you ask for? Bethesda promises to make things even more awesome with the upcoming release of Doom Eternal, but in the meantime, 2016's re-release is precisely what you should have played offline. If you haven't, then what are you waiting for?!

There's precious little introduction necessary here. Doom is a classic run-and-gun FPS with all the latest bells and whistles added on top. It's about as far from a puzzle game as it gets. You Go. Run. Shoot. Play.  And you'll have plenty of fun, trust us.

And yes - we do love Eternal quite a lot, but the fact remains that 2016 is a safer choice, compared to its successor's more arcadey feel.

Vanquish

Yeah, sorry about that. It's a bad rhyme, we know. Vanquish, however, is anything but bad! A relatively low-profile no-internet game, this is the most insanely fast and awesome shooter you've ever had the chance of playing.

Played Vanquish offline yet? No? Then be sure to get your hands on a copy of this fun game now to give it a go! I mean, we can hardly put Vanquish's insane gameplay loop into words. The kicker is that the game works without an Internet connection, which means you can easily play it off the grid if you so choose.

Indeed, this list of games without the Internet would've hardly been complete without PlatinumGames' premium shooter. These guys really are masters of their craft, and there's a reason why most of their games are as highly rated as they are.

Perhaps there's a Vanquish sequel in the making? Fingers crossed!

Batman: Arkham Knight

gaming without internet PC

The Batman Arkham series is a blockbuster no-internet game if there's ever been one. Its logical culmination, Arkham Knight, is our favorite of the bunch! Brimming with content, there's so much stuff to do in Arkham Knight without online requirements that it would've been ridiculous not to mention it.

Not only is this a phenomenal Batman game to be played offline, but it's also a fun detective story, a thrilling action adventure, and a downright incredible stealth game with compelling gameplay.

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch

gaming without internet PC

There were many PC RPGs to play offline, but we decided on two non-standard picks to keep things interesting. The first is the amazing Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. A recent PC release, the first Ni No Kuni game proved its worth on PlayStation 3. The ultimate PC version of the no-internet game came out just last year, and it's something you really want to play when you catch the time. Yes, this is a fun game!

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch has also got no special Internet features to speak of, so it's a wondrous experience for those who either have spotty Internet or somehow don't have access to it at all.

Greedfall + The De Vespe Conspiracy DLC

gaming without internet PC

No less incredible is Greedfall from Spiders. The devs' first major success after a series of experimental releases is a truly remarkable AA role-playing no-internet game. Its unique setting touches upon themes of colonialism, imperialism, and other assorted matters, while well-implemented gameplay systems drive the core of the game forward.

Most importantly, however, Greedfall showed us just what sort of awesomeness this dev team is capable of. The recently released De Vespe Conspiracy expansion pack adds more awesomeness to the mix, and we'd say that this no-internet game is a real must-have.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

Bloodstained Ritual of the Night sale 2game

We've sung plenty of praise about the incredible Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night already, but there's plenty more to come, too. This fun love letter to the whole Metroidvania niche comes damn close to perfection, and this is no accident. Namely, the game was produced by none other than the legendary Koji Igarashi, who helped create the sub-genre in the first place!

Following a very successful Kickstarter, Ritual of the Night launched in an extremely enviable state. It only needed a few tiny hotfixes too, which speaks volumes about the devs' dedication to their craft. If it's sidescrollers you're into, do not miss out on this one. This no-internet game plays like a dream.

Civilization VI Anthology

Aspyr Sale

Of course. What better note to end the best offline games article?  Civilization VI is the mother of all strategy games, and one of the best 4X titles on the market to play offline. The same goes for every Civilization game, now that we think of it. Huh. Good job Firaxis!

It goes without saying that this beastly strategy title plays phenomenally well even if you're without an internet connection, and it's practically a must-have for every fan of the genre. Even those taking merely a passing interest should check it out because Civ VI really is every bit as good as we're making it seem. If you're ever going to play a turn-based strategy, make it this one. Ooh! Or XCOM 2.

More Recommendations for Gaming with No Internet Connection!

Of course, it's been a fair long while since we first published this article, and we've got plenty more where that came from. If you were hoping to get a few more things to check out, do consider the following content!

These three, in conjunction with the list of games featured above, are bound to give you a solid idea of which games to go after. Of course, we'd also recommend you check out our sales pages to get the best possible deal you can get! Good luck, as there's always something exciting going on here at 2Game.

Final Remarks

No Wi Fi? No - fear. Gaming without an Internet connection isn't nearly as big of an issue as one might imagine at first. Now, sure, you do need to forego virtually all the game-as-a-service and multiplayer-oriented titles from the get-go, but single-player and offline games have absolutely proliferated over the years, and there are some great games to choose from. I mean, who needs other players anyway, right?!

As this (hardly comprehensive) list plainly shows, there's much to love about gaming in this day and age. And, if you are so inclined, you can even go completely offline and still enjoy the popular games on this list. Have a good one!
