New rival Legendary Lords of The Warden and the Paunch
As you might expect, The Warden and the Paunch features two new Legendary Lords. The Warden is a lord of High Elves – Eltharion the Grim. Eltharion's campaign focuses on rebuilding his base of operations, Athel Tamarha, and executing vengeance on his rival. His rival is, of course, Grom the Paunch. Grom's appetite is something to behold. Unsurprisingly, he'll have you cooking up different recipes in order to gain different bonuses. After all, you can't crush your foe on an empty stomach.
Eltharion the Grim
Eltharion the Grim is the first of two Legendary Lords introduced in The Warden and the Paunch. He belongs to the High Elves, and is the leader of Athel Tamarha. Which also happens to be the main mechanic he introduces to the game.
So how does Athel Tamarha work? First of all, it is represented by a separate panel which allows its full management. It has a whole bunch of structures that need rebuilding and they're split into two upgrade chains. There are some bonuses which are shared by both upgrade paths, such as increased defense rating and enabling the interrogation of enemy lords.
However, each of the upgrade chains has its own unique bonuses. The Mist of Yvresse line focuses on creating a mist which envelops your units in battle. The Mist of Yvresse grants all units affected by it great bonuses in battles. The second line, Defense of Yvresse, focuses on improving your defensive power and ability to fight off invaders. Particularly those pesky greenskins.
Grom the Paunch
Grom the Paunch is the leader of greenskins. He loves knocking elven heads and crushing stuff, just like any other greenskin. But what Grom the Paunch loves even more than that is food. That's why the primary mechanic introducated with Grom the Paunch in The Warden and the Paunch is the Grom's Cauldron.
Grom's Cauldron is a special item in which you can prepare a feast for Grom and his boyz using a variety of ingredients you find in the game. Feasting will provide many different bonuses to Grom and other units. And some of the more rare recipes will add special units to your army.
Grom the Paunch also has access to Blacktoof, his trusted shaman advisor. Or more specifically, his disembodied head. Blacktoof will occasionally provide helpful advice, but can also be used to summon an extremely powerful unit in battle.
The Warden and the Paunch new units and regiments of renown
The great news is that as far as The Warden and the Paunch new units go, there is a whole lot to be happy about. The expansion totals over 25 new units you can use in battle. And they're more dangerous than ever.
Eltharion brings a selection of new units to the game. Of course, there is Eltharion as a Legendary Lords riding a mighty griffon. But aside from the Legendary Lords, The Warden and the Paunch also introduce a new lord to the side of High Elves. There are also a total of 10 new battle units and 3 new regiments of renown.
As far as Grom the Paunch goes, he is also a Legendary Lord that can be used in battle. As with the High Elven side, the Greenskins also receive a new hero unit. Finally, the The Warden and the Paunch introduce a total of 6 new battle units and 3 new regiments of renown for the Greenskins.
The Warden and the Paunch free content
You'll be happy to hear that with the release of The Warden and the Paunch, Total War: Warhammer 2 will also receive a free content update. The so called free-LC will add a new Legendary Lord for the High Elves. That lord is Imrik, Lord of the Dragons .
Furthermore, there will be a free mount available for download on the day of release. Make sure not to miss it!
