We're steadily approaching Christmas 2019, and if you're looking for video game Christmas events to participate in, you've come to just the right place! Here, we'll tell you about four phenomenal games that are hosting Holiday events you, too, could enjoy. Note that these aren't actually winter-focused games as such. If that's what you want, check out our other article!

In any case, the games we'll present you with all share one feature: the sense of community and a certain Christmasy atmosphere we all crave these days. No matter which of these you end up going with, you'll be provided with true Holiday cheer. We're talking Christmas trees, heaps of candy, and - if you play RPGs - hoards of loot! That's the sort of stuff everyone loves, ain't that right? Presents!

The meaning of "Christmas spirit" differs for each and every one of us, but we feel certain games grasp the concept quite well. Of course, there may be more shooting and killing than some would prefer. That's how it goes, though. Zombies don't stop eating brains just because it's the Holiday season.

What Video Game Christmas Events are there in 2019?

Our library of games on sale is nothing if not exhaustive, but this season, four games in particular stand out. We're talking about Hitman 2Elder Scrolls OnlineKilling Floor 2, and - of course - Borderlands 3. No matter what sort of gameplay experience you might be looking for, we bet these will keep you busy.

Our criteria for a game to make its way into this feature was simple. It had to offer brand new and ongoing content for the season, and it had to present players with something to do and something to earn for Christmas 2019. Depending on your preferences, you might opt for something long-lasting like Hitman 2's batch of permanent content, or for a round of exclusive seasonal content, like that of Killing Floor 2. In any case, we're here to provide you with a run-down of what to expect from each of these games.

In fact, for a thorough explanation of how Hitman 2's Christmas content works, we've already prepared a handy overview. Check it out here! For more info on the rest of these picks, keep reading.

How to participate in all these Video Game Holiday Events?

Each of these games is quite unique when it comes to handling seasonal content. Killing Floor 2's snazzy Yuletide Horror update, for example, is quite simple:

  • Install Killing Floor 2
  • Load the new Sanitarium map
  • Start killing Christmas-themed enemies
  • Earn Holiday goodies

Ain't that a breeze? The good folk over at Tripwire Interactive are big fans of keeping things simple. The various game modes offered by Killing Floor 2 all work with the new Sanitarium map, and the annual enemy reskins are already available for you to blast into smithereens. Interestingly, the new map features none other than great Cthulhu itself, though we don't know if it's there to replace Santa, the Krampus, or someone else entirely.

Elder Scrolls Online handles things differently. It is an MMORPG in its prime, after all. The game's annual New Life Festival is slated to kick off on the 19th of December, and it will feature a wealth of goodies for players to earn. If you opt for this game, here's a short summary:

  • Install Elder Scrolls Online
  • Participate in the Undaunted Celebration event
  • Earn Event Tickets from Dungeon Boss kills
  • Collect Pure-Snow Berries and other assorted loot

With plenty of awesome loot and cosmetics to gather, including the majestic Pure-Snow Indrik mount, we are sure ESO will keep you busy through the Holiday season. It being an MMO also means you'll get to interact with numerous other players in moment-to-moment gameplay, making it ideal for those seeing a sense of camaraderie and community.

The Borderlands 3 Christmas 2019 event is way simpler than that, as it simply asks of players to keep track of official announcements. That's where Gearbox, the developers, will release gift cosmetics via SHIFT codes. Don't miss out! We'll keep you in-the-loop about this particular event over the coming days.

Anything else to keep an eye out for?

Hitman 2 December content

That about covers the basics of what's to come in December 2019 far as these games are concerned. We do invite you to keep track of our community announcements though, as that's where we'll cover all the best content coming over the Holiday season. If it's discounts you're interested in, however, that's easy!

As it stands, we've got slight cuts to each of these games' default prices. Here's what they are:

Keep in mind that we'll rotate deals and discounts as we go, so keep checking our pages from time to time! You can also keep track of them on our gifts for gamers article, where most of them are located. Happy Holidays, and happy discount-hunting!
