After taking a look at the vampire clans ruling Seattle it is time to see how deep the rabbit hole goes. Part of that is meeting Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 factions. Seattle is ruled by five major vampire factions. Each one of them is wrestling the rest to gain control over the city. Of course, each one of the Bloodlines 2 factions has their own history, motivations, and characteristics. Believe me, it will be useful to know everything about them. As a player it is up to you to decide which one to join, which ones to betray, or which ones to pit against each other. Just remember, all decisions you make along the way have serious consequences. So don't take them lightly.
The Pioneers – the first of Bloodlines 2 factions
The Pioneers are the oldest of the Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 factions. They were the first to settle in the area of Seattle, and ruled it since the beginning. Their leader, Lou Grand, is the longest-ruling prince of Seattle's underworld. Unfortunately, during his rule he has seen the control slipping away from his clan. And if there is one thing The Pioneers hate is losing power. Especially when it's because of the outsiders who came and carved up their territory.
The Pioneers are what you would call the „old money“ faction. With money comes power. And with power came worldwide influence. Unfortunately, power doesn't last forever. The Pioneers have been forced out by modern age and have to obey the rules set by other factions. All they got in return was permission to keep control over minor parts of the city. However, that doesn't stop them from planning and dreaming of ruling the city once again.
As is expected from an old money clan, The Pioneers have their own private membership club. No, not the one you picture with tennis courts and golf courses. The Insider's Club is a collection of prominent individuals from all the different vampire clans that share common ideals. Primarily, it is the idea of Seattle being the last frontier for vampires. Members of The Insider's Club will fight with all the power to preserve the remains of the old world. And of course, what remains of the members.
The Camarilla – this time it's just business
Seattle is home to many lucrative businesses. It should come as no surprise that one of the Bloodlines 2 factions has their fangs plunged deep into them. The Camarilla are the business magnates of both the vampire and human world. They know that the best way to spread their influence over the world is from the board rooms and CEO offices. Their leader, Prince Cross, managed to successfully turn their business connections into a complete dominion over Seattle.
However, being at the top has some disadvantages. Primarily, it puts a big red target right on your forehead. Every member of The Camarilla is well aware of that fact and took steps to protect themselves. Some do it by sheer power, other than bribers, and most by playing it smart. They know that the best way to preserve their place at the top is by giving others just enough power to keep them from moving against them.
Members of The Camarilla enjoy the life of luxury. As is fit for CEOs, bankers, politicians, and other business moguls. Wealth can buy you many things. Including the piece of mind of having your blood delivered to you and having others hunt for you. It's everything a vampire can dream of.
The Baron of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 factions
Not all factions are united behind the same ideology. There is one that is united behind the person they follow. The Baron of Aurora boasts a massive amount of followers. In fact, so many that it's impossible to count them. It helps that there have been only a select few who met him. The Baron of Aurora prefers to act through his lieutenants. He turned them into a ruthless force that has its hands in every shady deal that occurs in Seattle.
However, just because The Baron is the largest of Bloodlines 2 factions, doesn't mean it is liked. In fact, nobody likes them, or The Baron himself. That is, until they need him to do something for them. Whatever you need done, especially if you need it done quietly and quickly, The Baron can handle it for you. And it doesn't matter who you are, you can always find a job with him. That is, if you can handle it.
The Baron wouldn't be where he is now if he weren't a clever man. As such, he doesn't overestimate his own security. He is wanted by everyone, and can only remain alive as long as he's ahead of them all. It would take just one mistake for him to fall, and the whole faction with him.
The Newcomers that bring chaos to the city's balance
The Newcomers are the threat to the stability of Seattle's underground. They are made up mostly by the members of The Tremere clan. Even though they have been kept out of Seattle they recently struck a deal with The Camarilla. The deal allowed them access to one of the richer hunting territories, but nobody knows at what price. To this day nobody knows what made them take the journey from Europe to America.
The Newcomers' leader, „Professor“ Viktor Goga, has offered any vampire that would follow him access to fresh blood. Furthermore, he sweetened the deal with a place in a rapidly growing organization. Those with talent might even get to the top one day. However, Goga's actions earned him unwanted attention from The Baron. And that's never a good thing.
Given that The Newcomers are one of the Bloodlines 2 factions that is mostly made up from The Tremere clan they have more knowledge about the kindred than any other. After all, they were founded by blood mages. To them, knowledge is power. That's why they've been accepting occultists, scholars, and defectors from other factions into their ranks. They know all of them have knowledge to contribute.
The Unseen faction of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2
Homeless, drifters, and transients have been a staple of Seattle for as long as it has existed. People choose to ignore them. After all, it is easier to turn your head the other way. The Unseen use that to their advantage to hide plain sight. They walk amongst these unfortunate souls, and as such are hidden to humans and vampires alike. Even though they were ignored by other Bloodlines 2 factions they managed to grow into one of their own. Now, they trade in secrets and grudges, all the while led by The Council of Three. The Council of Three consists of The Speakers to the Nosferatu. It is the Council of Three that helped its members survive amongst the homeless and loners of the city.
The Unseen serve as information brokers of the underworld. Their ranks are made of thieves, frauds, and homeless. But in the information age they have seen the rise of journalists, hackers, and engineers as members. The Unseen know everything others do and what they're hiding. They also know there is always somebody who is willing to pay to find that out. The Unseen can be a powerful ally to any other faction. Given they manage to find them first.
If there is anything The Unseen do better than any other Bloodlines 2 factions is looking out for their own. After all, they never fit in anywhere else. That's why they learned to take care of each other.
