If you're a grand strategy sci-fi fan, you'll be familiar with Stellaris. On second thoughts, if you're a gamer who's lived and breathed over the last 8 years, you'll know the game. Described as 'one of the best space 4X strategy games around' (Windows Central), it's a classic.

First released in 2016, and set over 200 years in the future, Stellaris is an intergalactic adventure that keeps giving. Embracing technological advancements with ever-expanding content, it's a game that evolves over time. Like a fine wine improving with age.

With the May 7th launch of the Stellaris: The Machine Age DLC (see the Stellaris: The Machine Age Release Date Announcement Trailer), let's take a look at the latest Paradox Interactive trailer What's Coming in Stellaris: Season 08 to find out more about what lies in store!

What's Coming in Stellaris: Season 08

Who better to learn about what's coming in Stellaris: Season 08 from that the Game Director, Stephan Muray? Containing all of the major content that Stellaris will be releasing in 2024, including the upcoming Stellaris: The Machine Age DLC, Stellaris: Season 08 is your one-stop-shop for all that's cool from this outer space grand strategy masterpiece.

After the release of Stellaris: The Machine Age on May 7th, we have Cosmic Storms due to launch in Q3, and The Grand Archive coming out in the fourth quarter of the year.

As well as all the new content, you'll also receive the machine-species portrait, Rick the Cube, as an instant unlock purchase bonus. Hey, never turn your nose up at a freebie!

Now to delve a little deeper into the DLCs.

The Machine Age

The first of the major expansions, Stellaris: The Machine Age includes, wait for it... mechanics, narratives, and cosmetics all related to the themes of cybernetics, synthetics and machine empires in the Machine Age. OK, breath.

Basically, this DLC explores what affect converting a large section of your population into machine bodies could have on a society. Good luck navigating your way through the social and ethical issues that arise!

Stellaris: The Machine Age also contains three new Ascension paths, including an end game crisis, a become the crisis path, and a cybernetic and machine ship set. You can find out more about Stellaris: The Machine Age by watching the Stellaris: The Machine Age Release Date Announcement Trailer.

Cosmic Storms

Cosmic Storms is a mechanical expansion, thereby focusing on evolving the mechanical features of the game. In this case, Cosmic Storms improves the mechanical nature of the storms of Stellaris. For example, prior to Cosmic Storms, these powerful weather fronts have been out of your control and purely negative. Cosmic Storms changes that.

Indeed, with the introduction of the Cosmic Sands expansion pack, you will be able to research technologies that allow you to forecast, and even influence these storms. What do you think? I mean, the idea of using these powerful galactic phenomena to your advantage sounds pretty awesome to me!

The Grand Archive

The last of the DLCs, The Grand Archive, is a story pack that focuses on collecting, growing, and genetically modifying specimens from across the Galaxy. What you do with the specimens you produce, however, is down to you. No matter how nefarious your intent!

Just be warned, as well as two new types of fauna, The Grand Archive also includes a mid-game crisis, which may or may not be associated with one of the new specimens, or with some of your more devious workings. Tread carefully!
