To that end, we thought it made perfect sense for us to tell you all about the top horror games on sale this season.

A further evolution of RE7's baseline first-person formula, Village is the Resident Evil game we had been waiting for. It's loaded with content, positively brimming with spooky, atmospheric dread, and has a few terrifying sections that will stick with you for times to come.
Perhaps more importantly, it pulls in RE's long-lasting legacy and connects it to the new approach to horror that developers have taken with the franchise. There's much to love here, really.

Surprise surprise - Shinji Mikami's return to form had not gone unnoticed here at 2Game, even years after its initial release. It's honestly difficult to put The Evil Within 2 into words, because it pretty much exists in a niche all of its own.
For all intents and purposes, this is an open-world revision of the classic Resident Evil formula. Somehow, it manages to be both more terrifying and more empowering at times, depending on the given situation. It certainly helps that the game is set in a virtualized environment that's literally falling apart - keeps the scares virtually impossible to predict!
To be fair, certain gameplay elements of TEW2 do feel slightly out-of-date in 2021. Melee combat, for example, is pretty annoying. Virtually everything else, though, holds up incredibly well, making the game a must-play if you haven't yet had the time for it!

Whereas most other games on this list sit under the 'classic horror title' umbrella, Death Stranding makes its own way. Poetically fitting, we think, considering the game's subject matter.
A member of the relatively novel 'New Weird' school of thought, Death Stranding is most certainly a Hideo Kojima game. It tackles dread in a way like virtually no other title's ever done before, and though it's certainly plenty violent, manages to come out with a decidedly anti-homicidal stance.
Traversal is the name of the game in Death Stranding. To twist hiking into a dreadful, heart-stopping activity is no mean feat, and Death Stranding does that phenomenally well. Just be ready for things to get really weird.

Another Resident Evil game, yes! Don't blame us, though - blame Capcom, they've been making their recent games too good in the first place.
And, really, the Remake of Resident Evil 2 is just about perfect in every way that matters. It takes the original experience - horrific as it was - and elevates it into one of the finest horror games of all time. Encounters matter, resource management is key, and the puzzles make perfect sense. Mostly.
Don't forget about the menace that is Mr. X, either! Resident Evil 2 Remake honestly has it all if you ask us, and if you were to play just one RE game and never touch the franchise again - make it be this one. Trust us.

Our final highlight has boiled down to a value-minded offering, though it's no less valuable than any other game on this list.
In fact, Bioshock: The Collection basically gets you as much gaming bang for your dollarydoo buck as one could possibly hope for. Three massive, sprawling horror/immersive sim experiences set in a universe like no other. Different timelines twist and turn in Bioshock, and unnameable horrors dwell deep underneath poorly thought-out cities built on the bottom of the ocean.
Bioshock will take you to explore the state of human consciousness at its breaking point. It's going to make you reconsider your choices as reveals are made. Be prepared to reassess your agency, every step of the way. It's a masterpiece, simple as that. And now - it can be yours at an unbeatable price.
