Remarkably enough, From Software's done it again! It's August 25, 2023, and we can now finally play Armored Core 6 on PC and all its adjacent platforms! And, the best part of all of that is that you can buy it via 2Game and save a pretty penny while you're at it. We hope you've followed our earlier guides on how to best prepare for this awesome new mecha shooter, because everything points to it being one of 2023's many must-play experiences.
So, with that all well in tow, there's no time like right now to get a sense of what Armored Core 6 plays and feels like on our most crucial hardware. We are also very much interested in what the reviewers have had to say, as the franchise has had fairly rocky critical acclaim over the past couple of entries. Does the buck stop here, then, or does the curse of AC continue well into the future? One way to find out!

Should You Play Armored Core 6 on PC?
The obvious first order of business is whether you should be interested in a FromSoft mecha game in the first place. Here's the truth: even though the studio did learn many lessons with Elden Ring, Armored Core 6 is firmly in the category of being its own thing. Curiously, this is both a soft reboot for the franchise and a narrative follow-up to the AC games prior. FromSoft appears to be ready to throw the old mecha franchise into the new era, and it's done so with remarkable gusto if the reviews are anything to go on!

Armored Core 6 PC Reviews and Opinions
Right off the bat, it is crucial to mention that Armored Core 6 is the highest-rated Armored Core game we've seen yet. On Metacritic (PC), it is now sitting at a remarkable 87%: a rating that's been based on almost 30 critic reviews at the time of writing this article. Both Eurogamer and Siliconera have given the game a mind-boggling 100/100 rating, with Siliconera specifically saying that it "may be the best game FromSoftware has made to date."
Now, do remember, we're talking about the studio that's made:

- Dark Souls
- Dark Souls 2
- Dark Souls 3
- Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
- Bloodborne
- Elden Ring
That gamedev studio. Could it possibly be that Armored Core 6 is better than all of the above? It is, of course, a matter of opinion and personal taste. The fact that stands on its own two legs, however, is that the reviewers are absolutely heckin' thrilled with what they've seen from AC6. If you're a fantasy fan or if you straight-up do not enjoy mecha combat, then the new title won't be to your tastes. The quality of it, though, cannot be questioned.
Can Steam Deck play Armored Core 6?
Another thing worth pointing out here is that FromSoft has finally modernized its game development pipeline tech stack! Indeed, whereas we had to use mods to optimize Elden Ring for non-standard aspect ratios and an unlocked frame rate, this is not the case with Armored Core 6. By default, the game fully supports:
- 21:9 aspect ratio
- 120 FPS gameplay
That might seem pretty basic in 2023, but it has not at all been the case for classic FromSoft games so far. Another thing worth considering here, though, is that Armored Core 6 runs great on the Steam Deck thanks to these optimizations, making it a new go-to flagship title for anyone and everyone who's been gaming on the go!
FromSoft's New Flagship?
As we previously said, Armored Core 6 might not be for everyone - the Dark Souls crowd, in particular, may wish to test the waters before leaping in - but it's objectively a stellar game. It's one of FromSoft's finest games yet, if not the absolute best, depending on who you ask. On Steam, the game is already at an 85% positive review score, sitting firmly in the 'Very Positive' review rating.
