As an all-new release, it was to be expected that Expeditions: Mudrunner won't have nearly as much content as its predecessors on day one. Snowrunner, for example, comes positively loaded with goodies and things to pull said goodies around places. It only reached that level, however, by a constant and continued influx of post-launch content, so we weren't surprised to hear that Expeditions would only have a few levels on day one.
The bit that surprised and excited us, then, was that the developers kept certain things under wraps. Like, for example, the fact that two of Expeditions' main content hubs include several unique levels to play around with. That's right, there are a lot of things to see and do in Expeditions even today, and we'll explain how it all works over the next couple of sections.

How Many Levels Are There in Expeditions: Mudrunner?
Indeed, if we disregard the game's currently unpopulated 'Mods' region folder, there is a grand total of only three maps in Expeditions: Mudrunner. This is not the whole truth, however, as Arizona and the Carpathians are actually entire regions that come with a substantive number of maps each! That's right, we're getting way more than just three levels, in actuality.
Don't forget about sub-levels, though...
In practice, the Arizona region has four separate levels, each wildly different from the other:
- Grand Canyon
- Sonoran Desert
- Wahweap Bay
- Coconino
Similarly, the Carpathians region has its own four dedicated maps to play on:
- SlipRock Swamps
- Unshakeable Island
- Mountain Labyrinths
- Dormant Volcano
While it won't take long for you to wrap up Little Colorado - which is the game's starter/tutorial region, it's going to be a good long while until you're all done with Arizona and Carpathians. By the time that happens, we bet Expeditions will have already added more post-launch maps, and modders will be doing their own thing along the way.
In other words, there are at least 9 unique levels present in Expeditions: Mudrunner on day one, with plenty more to come in the future!
