An honest-to-goodness hybrid of the grand strategy and RPG genres, this is one of those experiences that just keep giving back to you, no matter how much time you spend playing it, and its expansion packs are a key part of this equation. Enter the Legends of the Dead DLC: an all-new X-PAC that promises to massively expand the scope of what's possible in Crusader Kings 3.
More specifically, Legends of the Dead allows you to tailor your ruler's legacy for ages to come, allowing them to live on in the memory of their subjects and opposers. There are a few key features that build upon this topic, but 'Legends' are the most important of them all. Notably, you will now be able to outright commission incredibly epic retellings of your family history, to the point that you can outright write an epic that rivals the Odyssey itself. At least, in the context of Crusader Kings 3.

Crusader Kings 3: Legends of the Dead DLC Explained
As is obviously implied, Legends of the Dead is all about the literal or perceived heroism of the rulers you're dealing with. History is written by the victors, as they say, and Crusader Kings 3 makes it clear that legends are about as good as the value they add to your lineage and culture. To that end, Legends of the Dead moves the needle further still in this regard, allowing you to have stories written about your rulers, watching them change and evolve over time and, of course, celebrate them however you see fit.
In more practical terms, this means that Legends of the Dead is all about introducing new ways to celebrate your Crusader Kings 3 rulers in gameplay. Whether that means commissioning an actual court historian to nip a tuck, as it were, or to organize immense feasts and beyond - that's on you.
Now, do keep in mind that not all legends are good. In classic Crusader Kings fashion, this expansion pack comes with a suite of things both good and bad, and you can rest assured that many of your work-in-progress legacies will be inevitably affected by incredibly deadly illnesses, such as the Black Death. Stuff of legend, is it not?

We won't lie: there's immense potential in Legends of the Dead. It's been a good long while since a feature had us giddy with possibilities in Crusader Kings, and Legacies and Legends are a phenomenal choice of focus this time around. A greater focus on illnesses and illness-related disasters is bound to freshen things up, too, forcing your rulers to adapt or... well, die.
